Yesterday the stars aligned, and I was able to finish replacing my tailpipe.
The part I !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! was in, it had stopped raining, so it was go time.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Typical. Of the 13 fasteners I had to end up removing, only one of them came off with a wrench. The rest had to be sliced off in one way or another.
Here's the rusty 2 into 1 pipe I wasn't planning on replacing.
But broke it, so I didn't have a choice. It was four years old, and still in pretty solid shape. If it wasn't for that broken ear, I:
Wouldn't have had to order another one.
Wouldn't have had to deal with those fasteners
Would have been FINISHED LAST WEEK
Once you brushed the rust off, you were left with a nice rounded off 12mm bolt. The pipe and flange you are looking at is two years old. What is this shit made out of?
Every time I have to work on this system, I start shopping for stainless replacements. Then I finish the repair, and it's all good. I'm always confident it'll be easier next time.
It never is.

Tried that once when I replaced a single pipe about 10 years ago. It was all gone and had started rusting by the end of the week.
